The four-year-old company is headquartered in Durham, North Carolina with additional offices in Montreal. The New Orleans office will open at the beginning of 2016, creating 85 new direct jobs averaging a salary of $75,000.

Company leaders were first introduced to the unique entrepreneurial spirit of the city earlier this year at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week. “I was struck by a like-mindedness with the local entrepreneurs and technologists,” said CEO Nick Jordan. “There’s a communitywide spirit of commitment that’s truly inspiring. Our ambition as a company is to shape the future of technology in New Orleans. We see a real opportunity to do just that – to help build a leading tech community.”

Smashing Boxes began working with Louisiana Economic Development (LED) in May 2015 to figure out the proper incentive package and other benefits of doing business in Louisiana, such as the solutions of LED FastStart®, the nation’s number one state workforce development program. The tech firm will also make a $500,000 capital investment for the project.

“Smashing Boxes is an outstanding digital company that could have brought its 85 new jobs anywhere in the world, but they chose greater New Orleans because of our attractive digital media incentive, world-class culture and great overall business hospitality,” said Greater New Orleans, Inc. President and CEO Michael Hecht.
