Smartphone uses will now have the option to purchase, store and display tickets for both immediate and future travel, states a release. Mobile ticketing will eliminate ticket purchase wait time, especially during large events and times of high traffic.

The technology is part of Masabi’s JustRide platform, a cloud-based, deployment-proven, end-to-end mobile ticketing and fare collection system. JustRide include secure payments, ticket management, real-time analytics and more. Other cities currently using the platform include Boston, Athens and London.

“In deploying our mobile ticketing technology we are bringing cutting-edge innovation to riders of the city’s transit network,” says Joshua Robin, Masabi’s Vice President for North America.

“This new service is going to provide a new level of convenience for riders while also lowering the burden on existing ticket sales architecture,” said Justin T. Augustine, III, Vice President of Transdev. “Riders can now purchase a ticket from anywhere, and at any time for bus, ferry or streetcar, making waiting in line to buy a ticket a thing of the past.”

The app can be downloaded for free from Google Play and the App Store.
