New Fellowship Focused on Increasing Women’s Business Opportunities

The Junior League of New Orleans (JLNO) has created the Woman Entrepreneur (WE) Fellowship, a 12-month program for women in the New Orleans area. JLNO believes that increasing women’s business opportunities improves the local economy.

Junior League New OrleansApplications are due on February 21, 2016. Three to five finalists will be announced the following week on February 29, and each will have an opportunity to pitch for 10 minutes at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) in March.

“The Junior League of New Orleans understands that building a business is difficult. This can be a greater challenge for women with limited access to mentors,” said Junior League of New Orleans President Shannon Able. “We are thrilled to provide a woman entrepreneur with access to our membership, which includes a diverse, professional cadre to motivate and guide her as she scales her business.”

JLNO will support a female business owner with mentoring and in-kind services sourced through its membership. Guidance will include:

  • Legal / Human Resources
  • Accounting / Financial Analysis
  • Investor Development
  • Marketing / Communications
  • Management / Organizational Consulting

There is also a free WE Fellowship Networking and Information Session taking place this Wednesday, January 27 at Mignon Faget featuring Kevin Wilkins, founder and managing director of Trepwise. Registration is recommended: jlno.org/networking.
