Shreveport to Host Startup Weekend for Local Military and Community Members

Startup Weekend is an event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, and startup enthusiasts come together to launch startups in just 54-hours.

Shreveport Startup WeekendShreveport-based Cohab, the community for entrepreneurs in Shreveport, is hosting a twist on the traditional Startup Weekend. Military Startup Weekend will take place March 4-6 at the Cohab headquarters.

Startup Weekend provides an opportunity to collaborate with creative and innovative individuals, as well as hear from industry experts and receive feedback from entrepreneurs and business leaders.

“From active duty members, to their spouses and veterans, we have a lot of people in our community with ideas and a desire to start a business,” says Cohab on the large military community in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

John Grindley, executive director of Cohab, saw the need within his peer group, and thought they could organize something for the entire community to learn and grow from.

The Startup Weekend is open to active military, veterans, and spouses of military, in addition to other community members interested in building something over the course of the weekend.

“We are looking for self-starters, creators, and business enthusiasts to come together to share ideas, form teams, and launch startups,” says Grindley. “We are organizers dedicated to fostering local entrepreneurship to strengthen our community.”

Startup Weekend events around the globe culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations.

If you register by February 21 with code “EARLYBIRD” you will receive 10% off your registration. There is also a ticket option for community members interested in the demo day on Sunday, March 6. Tickets for participants and others are available here.
