The newly opened Culture-Up Incubator is targeting creatives working in cultural industries.
Located at 938 Lafayette Street in the Central Business District, Culture-Up is open to for-profit, non-profit entities as well as individuals whose work enhances the cultural sector of Louisiana.
The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH), and the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation (LCEF) are hoping the space will help cultural innovator collaborate.
District “B” Councilmember LaToya Cantrell believes this to be a great opportunity for creative entrepreneurs in New Orleans. “LCEF and LEH resources will help these creative entrepreneurs get a leg up, and it will provide an environment that will truly get the creative juices flowing. New Orleans’ entrepreneurial movement continues to grow and this is just the beginning.”
Culture-Up prices range from $250 for a permanent desk up to $450 for a semi-private nook that fits two people. Amenities include 12 hour daily access to the space equipped with WiFi, fax and copy machines, common areas, a physical mailing address for members, in addition to access to business training, mentors and resources.
“Culture-Up is the first of its kind in the area, with resources dedicated to artist/creatives,” says LCEF CEO Aimee Smallwood. “The creative industries are a powerful economic driver in Louisiana and they are the foundation of our international brand. It is critical to support innovation and to give creatives the tools they need to be successful.”
