Startup Weekend New Orleans Announces First Education-Focused Event

Startup Weekend New Orleans is part of a larger international network that hosts 54-hour business building events that attract entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, developers, designers, marketers and creatives.

Startup Weekend New Orleans and 4.0 Schools have announced the dates and location of the first Startup Weekend Education (SWEDU) to be held in the city. SWEDU will take place May 6-8, 2016 at Loyola University’s Center for Entrepreneurship.

The process is the same as always: pitch your idea, vote for your favorites, form teams and begin prototyping the idea throughout the weekend. Those who aren’t pitching are welcome to attend and join their team of choice to help launch the idea into a viable solution by the end of the 54 hours.

“We will have a sharp focus on educational startups this year,” reveals organizer Chris Groh. “Whether you have an  idea to improve education or a skill that is necessary in building a successful startup, this event is one that aspiring entrepreneurs should not miss.”

On Sunday evening, the new education ideas will be pitched to a panel of judges and the winning team walks away with prizes to help take their startup to the next level.

All participants will also receive one-on-one coaching and mentorship from local business experts such as Le’Kedra Robertson, a SWEDU judge and New Orleans Organizer of Stand For Children.
