The Warehouse is the latest shared workspace and coworking community to launch in New Orleans. After putting some last minute touches on the space, The Warehouse officially opened its doors on April 25.
In July of last year, SmartAsset ranked New Orleans #1 in America for creative professionals. Through incubators such as Propeller and The Idea Village, the city is also a hotbed for entrepreneurial activity.
This is the first coworking space opened by the four person team behind The Warehouse. “We were pulled together by a long time mutual friend, a real estate developer who already had an interest in the building,” said Erin Allen, a freelance designer and co-founder of The Warehouse. “He tapped his go-to property manager, another friend, to be the operational partner, then recruited the other two of us who he thought would have an interest in working from the space: myself, to help with design and marketing for the space, and an iOS app developer friend for help with systems and security.”
“When I was looking to move my office out of my house, I found that most of the private offices in other coworking spaces around town were already full, and most of the spaces were concentrated on the other side of town, so when a friend approached about this project, it felt like a perfect opportunity to address both.”
The Warehouse is located in a renovated historic building at 3014 Dauphine Street in the Bywater neighborhood. The 10,000 square foot space features an open layout, 22 private offices, room for 40 permanent desks, and ample communal coworking space.
