New Orleans Women in Technology to host WordPress Website Workshop

New Orleans Women in Technology (WIT) is a professional organization focused on improving the Industry landscape for women in IT. Over the last three years, they have added a board of directors, increased programming, and hosted numerous events for the local technology community.

The next New Orleans WIT event is a beginner level WordPress Workshop on May 14 at the Delgado Small Business Center.

“Everything from mom-and-pop businesses to blogs for some of the largest names out there (CNN, Spotify, Time, among others) run their sites using the WordPress core,” explains organizers. “That’s nearly 60 million sites with 100,000 more being added each day. WordPress has evolved into a versatile content management system (CMS), and even though you can still use it to create simple blogs, it also allows you to create fully functional websites and mobile applications.”

Wendy Dolan, owner and founder of Get Online NOLA will be the lead instructor for the upcoming workshop.

Topics covered in the workshop include:

  • Adding blog posts
  • Adding & updating pages
  • Uploading image galleries
  • Adding and updating plugins
  • SEO best practices and more.
