Smart Coos is a New Orleans-based language immersion platform that makes becoming multilingual more natural for children. It’s the first ever language learning platform for newborns through age eight that provides a personal language teacher.
The startup has been chosen to be a part of the Unreasonable Institute’s first Early Childhood Accelerator Cohort. Unreasonable Institute wants to use their assets to get the entrepreneurs the training, mentorship and capital they need to scale their ventures and positively impact over one million kids each.
Smart Coos brings non-native language acquisition resources to parents to help them develop and maintain the language through sign language, infant-directed-speech, and books and stories while providing a safe community for parents and caregivers to support and maintain the development for their children.
Founder and CEO Mirta Desir along with her co-founder Harold Jean-Louis will be participating in the program in-person from July 19-24. Support from the program will last much longer as Smart Coos will have access to a network of over 250 funders.
“Smart Coos is excited to be a part of the first Early Childhood Accelerator cohort, and is ready to take this opportunity to reach more disadvantaged children and positively impact their futures,” said Desir.
