Not only is AOL co-founder Steve Case well known for his own entrepreneurial ventures, he also supports other startup founders across the country through Revolution Growth, an investment firm funding disruptive companies that will change the world.
The firm has announced its latest fund, the $525 million “Revolution Growth III” investment fund. The new fund will invest “speed-up” capital in businesses outside of Silicon Valley that are leveraging technology and new models to disrupt existing, multi-billion dollar industries.
Case is the founder and chairman of Revolution Growth, which he runs alongside Revolution LLC, another firm he co-founded to partner with entrepreneurs to build significant built to last new businesses.
“Revolution Growth was created out of a belief that with the right idea, team, and partners, there is significant opportunity to build innovative, built-to-last companies not just in Silicon Valley but all across the country,” said Case. “While the investment pace has recently slowed somewhat in Silicon Valley, we believe the pace is poised to accelerate in Rise of the Rest regions. We look forward to joining forces with the next generation of entrepreneurs looking to transform significant aspects of our lives, and build great companies in the process.”
Case has also announced his next Rise of the Rest bus tour, which identifies and supports startups in emerging markets. He will be offering a $100,000 check to a local entrepreneur in each of the five cities selected, this time in the Mountain West, Southwest, or Northwest.
Last year, on his fourth bus tour, Case visited New Orleans and other southern cities seeking the top entrepreneurs to award his investment. Acrew (formerly GoToInterview) is an on-demand video interviewing platform for high-turn industries that beat out six other startups for the $100,000 prize.
