Fund 17 combats opportunity inequality in the seventeen wards of New Orleans by providing tailored training and resources to underserved entrepreneurs.
The nonprofit social enterprise works with informal, home-based business owners the assets they need to grow their businesses and achieve economic mobility.
Fund 17 has launched their summer 2016 fundraising campaign: Growing Opportunity in the 17 Wards of New Orleans.
“Growing Opportunity in the 17 Wards is about reaching out to more hardworking New Orleanians. Over the last year, we saw the impact our programming can have. Now it is time to grow and transform the lives of business owners ignored by the current entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said Fund17 Founder and Executive Director Haley Burns.
Proceeds of the fundraising campaign will help Fund 17 to hire additional staff members and launch new Spanish language programs.
Their goal is to increase capacity and serve 100 New Orleans entrepreneurs over the course of the year by focusing on six core values: financial empowerment, personal goal setting, healthy business systems, supporting entrepreneurial identities, building relationships and creating partnerships.
