Each year, Inc. Magazine releases the Inc. 5000, ranking the country’s top 5000 fastest growing private companies. Forty one Louisiana companies have made the 2016 list, up from last year’s 39.
An expansion of the Inc. 500, the Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth over a three-year period from 2012 to 2015.
The fastest growing Louisiana company to make the list is Melba’s Old School Po’ Boys, based in New Orleans, which ranked 123 out of 5000 with a 3-year growth of 2,775%.
MasteryPrep, an education startup based in Baton Rouge, was the third fastest growing Louisiana company on the list and ranked 241 overall with a 3-year growth of 1,612%. Towards the end of 2015, the startup announced the the completion of a $3.6 million debt and equity financing round led by The Catalyst Fund.
Other technology companies to make the list include IT services company Transformyx (#732), Posigen (#1682), which leases solar power systems to homeowners, Internet service provider Hunt Telecommunications (#1723), and several others.
My IT (#4276) is the only IT services company based in New Orleans that made this list this year. Also on the list is Proforma Key Solutions (#3557), which offers digital media services, smart communications and e-commerce solutions.
Ultra Mobile, another telecommunications company, topped the entire Inc. 5000 with a 3-year growth rate of 100,849%. Based in Costa Mesa, California, Inc. describes the five-year-old company as, “A mobile virtual network operator offering various mobile plans that feature international talk, text, and data services at no additional charge.”
