NOLATech Week Announces 2016 Schedule

NOLATech week, the largest free technology conference in the south, has announced the schedule of events for the week of October 10-15, 2016. The tagline this year is, “Global innovation with New Orleans flair.”

Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to organize and host their own events during the “unconference,” a loosely structured week designed to have as much of the community involved as possible.

“New Orleans has experienced a true renaissance over the past 10 years, and we’re thrilled to welcome more innovative businesses into the city every year,” said Jason Seidman, executive director of NOLATech Week.

There will be pitch competitions, happy hours, hackathons and free coding classes as well as roundtables and panel discussions by individuals from leading technology companies such as Sony, Microsoft, and more.

The week will close out with the fourth annual Silicon Bayou Startup Showcase, highlighting the local creative startup and entrepreneurial community with a science fair style exhibit and happy hour.

Other notable events include the inaugural ‘NOLATech Week Digital Day’ on October 15, which will take place at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and, for the first time, staff from Facebook will be in attendance to share information about programming and computer science through TechPrep.

Last year, more than 250 businesses participated in creating over 100 events, attracting more than 3,500 attendees from across the globe. Organizers expect a larger turnout this year.
