Through a grant from Capital One Bank, the brand new READesign® Technology Lab is officially open in New Orleans. The lab will provide community residents–students and seniors–to state-of-the-art technology.
The lab was launched in partnership between The Heart of America Foundation’s READesign® team, the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) and Fischer Community Center, a senior care center.
Two existing computer labs now house large-screen monitors, a 3D printer and scanner, color laser printers and copiers, and digital and video cameras, along with other enhancements.
Capital One and its partners celebrated on November 17 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and on site activities such as assembling furniture and installing technology equipment and conducting mock interviews and resume reviews with students and community members.
The bank has committed $150 million in community grants through its Future Edge initiative, launched in 2015, to help Americans succeed in the digital economy. Capital One is donating more than 1,000 books focusing on business and financial literacy tools.
