Propeller Seeks Innovative Solutions to Pressing Water Issues

Social innovation hub Propeller is now accepting applications for the annual Water Challenge. The Challenge seeks non-profits, for-profits, individuals, and organizations with ideas that address southeast Louisiana’s urban water, coastal environment, or local water economy.

The Water Challenge is a collaborative initiative originally seeded by the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF), Propeller, and the Idea Village focused on solving critical regional water issues through entrepreneurship in Louisiana.

“As Southeast Louisiana continues to grapple with the losses from the 2016 floods, it is more apparent than ever that water poses the biggest challenge to creating a sustainable future in our state,” explains Propeller. “The Water Challenge seeks concrete, sustainable solutions in the areas of urban water management, coastal preservation and restoration, and water-based industries including fisheries and maritime transportation.”

Propeller will award $15,000 in total prizes to the 10 finalists during New Orleans Entrepreneur Week in March. Tickets to the pitch are available via Eventbrite.

Applications received before February 10, 2017 will receive feedback, while the final deadline is on February 22.
