App for Finding Crowds Wins Annual DIGITALMEDIAx

Scenehound, a mobile app that simplifies the way you plan your night out, has been named the winner of DIGITALMEDIAx, a program focused on supporting founders with innovative digital information-sharing concepts.

Founder Michael Underwood was one of five startups in the program, which is run by The Idea Village in partnership with NOLA Media Group. Each of the five founders pitched last night (December 13) at Demo Day in New Orleans.

The app connects users to their community while providing them with a real-time snapshot of the restaurant and bar activity in their area. In less than 10 seconds, the app gathers reviews and wait time for restaurants, and crowd size and male to female ratio for bars.

Scenehound won three months of free workspace at The Times-Picayune offices in addition to a $1,000 prize. Underwood will also have a chance to network in New York, part of the prize package sponsored by Advance Local.

Other DIGITALMEDIAx companies include Dreamster Media Group, iDWELL, The Host, and WannaDoStuff.
