A Lafayette resident was one of 15 aspiring storytelling from around the world chosen to speak at Logitech and TED’s Spotlight Presentation Academy in New York.
Sara Sharp, the Louisiana participant, works with the state’s Department of Education, working closely with school educators to help shape curriculum in the best way for students.
The one-day boot camp was designed to promote the confidence of each storytelling. “Glossophobia, or the fear of public speaking, is one of our best-known fears,” shared TED. “We’re very familiar with this fear at TED — and we have a not-so-hidden secret approach to overcoming it: coaching. With the right approach, mindset and practice, we think anyone can learn how to improve their public speaking and presentation skills.”
Each speaker was given Logitech’s Spotlight Presentation Remote and time with editorial director and curator of the TED Institute Bryn Freedman. The Academy’s curriculum focused on storytelling immersion and structure through workshops and one-on-one sessions.
