New Orleans-based software development company LookFar launched the Ada Lovelace Awards in 2015 to honor the achievements of the Woman of the Year in the Greater New Orleans area tech who exemplifies the technical foresight and intuition that characterized all of Ada Lovelace’s endeavors.
This year, organizers decided to expand the event to include four categories of women in tech across the Gulf South region: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Texas. While previous years did not have categories, the four this year are Computer Engineer, Tech Founder, Digital Marketer, and STEM Educator.
LookFar said they chose to expand the awards in recognition of the many impactful ways that women play a role in the tech community. Click here to find out the nearly 100 women who made the list of nominees this year.
“The Ada Lovelace Awards are held during the same week as Ada Lovelace Day (the second Tuesday of October), an international celebration day of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM),” shared LookFar.
An award ceremony will take place next Friday, October 13 at Le Petit Theater. Tickets are free but space is limited, so RSVP here today if you plan to attend.
