LSU’s Biomedical Research Center Named Elite Corporate Health Champion

Louisiana State University’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge has been named an Elite Corporate Health Champion by the American Diabetes Association as part of the new Wellness Lives Here initiative. The award recognizes the Center’s commitment to the well-being of its more than 450 employees.

The mission of the Center is to discover the triggers of chronic diseases through innovative research that improves human health across the lifespan.

According to a press release, they met the healthy living criteria in the areas of nutrition and weight management, physical activity and organizational well-being.

“We are committed to improving health throughout Louisiana and around the globe, and that includes our employees,” shared Dr. Donna Ryan, executive director of the Center. “Our work is focused on stamping out chronic disease, and our science has shown a healthy lifestyle is key to that. Our goal is to encourage the adoption of healthy habits which will benefit our team members, their families and our Center as a whole.”
