The New Orleans BioInnovation Center’s annual BioChallenge hosted four life sciences startups on stage yesterday for the big pitch competition and a grand prize of $25,000. The pitch took place during Innovation Louisiana, which highlights scientific discoveries from universities and startups across the state.
RDnote, a digital health startup that helps healthcare providers increase quality of care, won the 2017 BioChallenge.
“RDnote will have an incredible impact on improving how nutrition is integrated into care for patients in Louisiana,” said Aaron Miscenich, President of the New Orleans BioInnovation Center. “We’re proud to highlight all four of these outstanding teams of entrepreneurs, and we look forward to seeing their future impact on healthcare in our region and around the world.”
The other participating startups include Instapath, Obatala Sciences, and Ready Responders.
In addition to the grand prize, RDNote took home another $25,000 from the New Orleans BioFund, a micro venture capital fund that is part of the BioInnovation Center. The Audience Favorite Award of $2,500 went to Instapath.
