Occupational data from a recent report from Brookings Institution ranks the New Orleans area as second in the country for women’s share of computer and math occupations.
The only city to top New Orleans’ 31.9 percent ranking is the Sacramento area with 33.4 percent of tech-oriented jobs. The report looked at the largest cities in across America with an employed population of over 500,000 people.
Michael Hecht, President and CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc., said that the ranking continues the trend of Greater New Orleans as a leader in “inclusive innovation.”
Other cities to make the top 10 include the Sacramento, Washington, D.C., Memphis, Richmond, Birmingham, Milwaukee, Providence, and Detroit areas.
