The Coding Contest Selects New Orleans as First-Ever American City to Participate

The Coding Contest is an international computer science competition that takes place simultaneously in cities around the world.

New Orleans-based software engineering and data science firm Flow Digital has partnered with the University of New Orleans to bring The Coding Contest to America for the first time ever. The New Orleans event will take place on April 27, the same date as other participating cities, including many in Austria where the competition was launched in 2007.

“Flow Digital is proud to be headquartered in New Orleans. That’s why we’re pleased to extend this tremendous opportunity to Louisiana’s young professionals who love technology,” Flow Digital CEO Walter Gugenberger said. “As Louisiana’s technology sector grows, it is vital that university students studying computer science are offered the ability to learn new skills and test those skills against those of their peers worldwide.”

Local organizers shared the competition is open to all students enrolled at a Louisiana higher education institution. Flow Digital will select 30 students to participate in The Coding Challenge at the University of New Orleans.

In 2017, The Coding Challenge engaged over 4,000 students in more than 50 cities. The 2018 challenge is expected to be even larger.
