New Orleans Launches Startup Mapping Initiative

The Greater New Orleans Startup Index is a brand new initiative designed to gather data points on New Orleans entrepreneurs and startups.

“Due to the need for regional benchmarking for the startup and early stage economy, the Albert Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Tulane University is conducting the 1st Annual Greater New Orleans Startup Index,” shared the newly launched website.

The initiative is modeled after a similar project conducted in Washington, D.C. that compiled over 30,000 data points to create a free and available to the public summary.

“This research will help Greater New Orleans better understand its early stage economic landscape and supply tools to affect policy, attract investment, apply for grants, implement relevant programs, and measure success.”

The Lepage Center is seeking applications from entrepreneurs in the Greater New Orleans region with an ARR less than $60,000,000, or a company less than five years old, or someone who self identifies as participating in the region’s entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. Plus, all data submitted will be kept anonymous.

Submissions take roughly 20 to 30 minutes and are due by February 15. The report will be available in May. Take the survey here.
