The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) is an economic development organization that works to attract, grow, and create new business in the parish.
JEDCO has announced the launch of its JEDCO Challenge, a startup pitch event for early stage companies in the area. The seventh annual event is currently seeking applications through Tuesday, April 2.
To be eligible for the JEDCO Challenge, each applicant must have ties to Jefferson Parish, generate less than $500,000 in revenue, have less than five employees, be a for-profit company, and not have been selected as a top five finalist in any past JEDCO Challenge.
Selected finalists with then compete for $20,000 in direct capital and additional in-kind business services to help them grow.
“This annual pitch competition affords JEDCO an opportunity to connect with innovative early-stage companies through a very exciting platform,” says JEDCO President and CEO Jerry Bologna. “Through this competition, our team gains an introduction to the entrepreneurs that are helping to grow our regional business ecosystem. In turn, the JEDCO Challenge elevates opportunities for these chosen startups, giving them a chance to promote their new businesses to a vast and supportive business community.”
