JeffCare is a health center part of the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority in Louisiana. The company recently announced it would be implementing video technology from emocha Mobile Health, based out of Baltimore.
The technology will be used to help patients with opioid use disorder in the area. Throughout the United States, roughly only 20 percent of those suffering from the disorder are currently in treatment.
“emocha’s video technology can improve access to medication assisted therapy—allowing providers to engage with patients at critical moments during treatment. This should ultimately lead to better outcomes and fewer overdoses,” said Sebastian Seiguer, CEO at emocha. “We are proud to partner with JeffCare to address this public health epidemic in Jefferson Parish.”
The video technology provided by emocha is called the Directly Observed Therapy platform, which encourages patients to take each dose of their medication throughout the treatment process.
