Wyndy is a free app to find, book, and pay babysitters. Originally launched in Birmingham, the startup is now available in eight cities including New Orleans.
More than 12,000 families have found babysitters through the Wyndy app to date. The company is currently looking to recruit 150 college students in the New Orleans area to become background-checked babysitters. Already students from Tulane, Loyola, the University of New Orleans, and others have signed up to become “Wyndys.”
“Our decision to work exclusively with college and graduate students, combined with our vetting process, ensures that the Wyndys who serve our parents provide the kind of reliable and trustworthy care we want for our own children,” says Wyndy’s VP of Operations, Landon Howell.
Wyndy shared in a recent release that the company is considered the “Uber for babysitting,” because the entire hiring process can be done through the app in real-time.
The app lets users pick the babysitters they prefer, plus save a list of preferred Wyndys to book in the future.
“Since launching in Birmingham, we’ve paid out more than $1.7 million to college students in Birmingham, with top Wyndys earning more than $1,000 per month or more, all while setting their own schedules,” shared Wyndy CEO Tommy Mayfield.
