New Orleans Student Wins STEM Talent Award

A 14-year-old student from New Orleans has been awarded $10,000 at a science and engineering competition designed for middle schoolers.

Lauren Ejiaga was one of 30 finalists at this year’s Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology, and Engineering for Rising Stars), taking home the STEM Talent Award for her project focused on ozone depletion.

“The award was given to Lauren based on her demonstration of excellence in science, technology, engineering and math, along with the leadership and technical skills necessary to excel in the 21st Century STEM workforce and build a better community for tomorrow,” shared the Society for Science & the Public, organizers of Broadcom MASTERS.
