Xbox Game Studios Launches Game Camp in New Orleans This April

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios will be hosting a game development camp focused on hands-on learning for developers of all levels. Powered by cross-platform game engine Unity, Game Camp will kick off on April 21 in New Orleans.

Game Camp is a six-month event hosted in partnership with Louisiana Economic Development, Greater New Orleans Inc. and the New Orleans Business Alliance.

Louisiana Economic Developed revealed in a press release that participants will break into teams based on interests as well as preferred platform to create games under the guidance and mentorship of both Microsoft and Unity mentors.

“Extraordinary talent exists everywhere, but not everyone has the access or means to pursue their passions,” said Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios at Microsoft. “By attending Game Camp in New Orleans, aspiring developers will learn how to make games in a collaborative and supportive setting, mentored by senior video game developers from Xbox Game Studios and Unity Technologies.”

Applications for the Game Camp will open on March 9.
