Applications Open for the First Southeast Health Innovation Tour

A venture capital firm, an incubator, and a New Orleans-based nonprofit entrepreneurial support organization have teamed up to launch the Southeast Health Innovation Tour for healthcare entrepreneurs.

Sopris Capital, along with Adaptation Health and The Idea Village, the Tour is designed to connect emerging healthcare entrepreneurs who are focused on addressing needs among vulnerable populations directly with access to capital, contacts in Medicaid, and opportunities to scale.

There are three goals for potential impact of the tour:

  • Founders meet with a VC in hopes of a future early-stage financing deal or term sheet.
  • Create connections and contacts for future opportunities to contract within Medicaid.
  • Discover opportunities to help scale the startup through The Idea Village’s accelerator program.

Applications for the Southeast Health Innovation Tour are currently open through August 7. The entrepreneurs selected to participate will have the opportunity to meet with companies in cities including Birmingham, Chattanooga, Little Rock, Memphis, New Orleans, and Tallahassee. The final locations will be determined following the application deadline.

The organizers “recognize that innovation is not only happening in coastal cities and this project hopes to connect with innovators outside major markets to better understand new and emerging startups.”
