Earlier this year, Greater New Orleans, Inc. announced that Microsoft’s Xbox Games Studios was launching a game development camp to be held in New Orleans. Due to COVID-19, the camp is now completely virtual and will be held from September 8 to February 4 online.
Game Camp, powered by cross-platform game engine Unity, is focused on hands-on learning for developers of all levels. Participants will break into teams based on interests as well as preferred platform to create games under the guidance and mentorship of both Microsoft and Unity mentors.
“More than ever before, this game development camp represents a major validation of our tech and gaming sector, one of the Top 10 fastest-growing in the United States,” shared Michael Hecht, President and CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc. “ It is also a huge opportunity for locals to acquire the skills – from one of the biggest companies in the world – in order to get jobs in this sector.”
