New Orleans Experienced 7th Largest Entrepreneurship Boom During Pandemic

Online lending marketplace LendingTree has been analyzing data from the U.S. Census Bureau to determine which cities saw the largest boom in entrepreneurship across the country since the start of the pandemic. Three Louisiana cities topped their list.

New Orleans experienced the 7th largest increase in business applications. “The Louisiana metro saw a 55.6% jump in the number of Americans who applied for business applications by seeking an employer identification number,” shared LendingTree.

Shreveport saw the 3rd and Baton Rouge the 4th largest increase in new business applications from the previous year.

Overall, the South seems to be a hotspot for potential business formation, as nine of the top 10 metros for growth in business applications from 2019 to 2020 were in the South,” revealed LendingTree.
