General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of global aerospace and defense company General Dynamics, has joined the University of New Orleans research and technology park campus at The Beach. The company’s newly opened office space will support 50 new jobs.
“GDIT’s new office is designed to nurture collaboration among the company, local businesses, small businesses and the university to provide the necessary training and education to sustain a growing IT workforce in New Orleans,” revealed the economic development agency Greater New Orleans, Inc.
The Beach is a 30-acre site with roughly 800,000 square feet of office and lab space designed to promote entrepreneurship, collaboration, and innovation between academia, government, and other entities.
This new GDIT office is the fifth for the business in Louisiana, with its flagship location in Bossier City.
“The creation of this General Dynamics IT office is an excellent example of the synergy between high tech and higher education in the Greater New Orleans region,” said Michael Hecht, President and CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc.
