Join Taylor Davidson this Thursday for his popular Financial Modeling for Entrepreneurs Skillshare class. After teaching the class 5 successful times in New York City, Taylor is offering the class during Thursday’s lunch hour at Launch Pad in New Orleans.
Zeb Dropkin, founder of @RentHackr, provided feedback for the class, “The topic is pretty complex and the class pretty short, but I got a lot out of it and I’d recommend Taylor’s class to anyone interested in modeling the finances for their startup. The take-away spreadsheet is a great bonus, too. ”
Davidson is a Senior Associate at kbs+ Ventures and a an advisor and mentor to many early-stage ventures and entrepreneurs, including Launch Pad Ignition. To date, over 6,000 entrepreneurs have downloaded his Excel template financial models for startups available at UnstructuredVentures.com.
In a previous post by Pauline Willeford, Davidson shares how to get your foot in the door and raise venture capital. Another necessary starting point for entrepreneurs is financial modeling. His class will focus on building financial models in Excel.
Upon completion of the Skillshare class, students will have a set of financial statements, key operation metrics, and a set of key drivers and assumptions. Davidson will help students determine key milestones, capital needs, and types of potential investors.
Students will receive a template financial model to use in class and beyond. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop and are expected to have a familiarity with basic finance and a passing familiarity with Excel. Register for Davidson’s Skillshare class here and follow him on Twitter @tdavidson.
