New Orleans Launches Business Information Sessions to Help Entrepreneurs Grow

In a step in the right direction for the city’s growing entrepreneurial eco-system, Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s administration announced yesterday the launch of a series of business information sessions to help entrepreneurs start or grow their businesses.  The New Orleans Business Alliance, led by CEO Rod Miller, is managing the program.

“The goal of these information sessions is to connect entrepreneurs and small business owners to technical assistance providers and financial resources,” Landrieu said in a statement.

The presenters at the sessions include:

NOLA Business Alliance, which will speak to the overall economic development efforts including luring large and retail businesses to the city.

The Office of Supplier Diversity, which will address the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program.

The Office of Cultural Economy, which will answer questions about permitting and incentives offered within cultural districts.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, which will explain their educational program, which recently graduated its first class of 30 small business owners.

The Small Business Administration, which will provide information on the resources and support they can provide.

JOB1 Business and Career Solutions, which will answer questions regarding training opportunities and incentive programs they offer.

The New Orleans Fresh Food Retailer Initiative, which will discuss their efforts to increase access to fresh foods in traditionally underserved neighborhoods in the city in addition to providing quality employment opportunities and serving as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization.

The World Trade Center, which will answer questions regarding importing and exporting.

All sessions will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. and are open to the public.
