Next Stop New Orleans! 4.0 Schools and MakerState Bring Mobile Education Truck to Town

SparkTruckNational educational build-mobile, SparkTruck, will make a stop in New Orleans this weekend to share hands-on learning experiences with eager kids. The Truck will visit the Louisiana Children’s Museum and the new Bricolage Academy Sunday afternoon.

4.0 Schools and its makerspace for kids start­up, MakerState, are helping bring SparkTruck to New Orleans.

MakerState hosted two meetups last week for New Orleans kids interested in art, science, technology and more.

MakerState founder Stephen Gilman said, “Kids just love to build robots and program their own games and design their own toys. While doing it, they learn 21st Cen. skills that will allow the to prosper in school, college, career and life. That’s maker learning at MakerState.”

“SparkTruck and MakerState are putting forward a pretty simple idea: kids learn best by doing, creating, designing, experimenting, building, by making,” said Gilman. “We’re excited to launch our full­-time makerspace programming in New Orleans this Fall and this awesome visit from SparkTruck will be a great way for kids and parents to see what maker learning is all about.”

    Young makers will design and build vibrating robot creatures with pager motor and Popsicle sticks in this workshop
  • 1pm-2pm — SparkTruck Lego Robotics Free Play
    In this open-for-all event youngsters will get a hands-on introduction to the Lego Mindstorms robotics system.
