Receivables Exchange announces partnership with New York Stock Exchange:  The Receivables Exchange (TRE), a New Orleans-based company that reported 466% growth in 2010, announced a partnership with the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The joint strategic initiative was agreed upon to market TRE’s Corporate Receivables Program (CRP) to potential sellers, including New York Stock Exchange listed companies. Under terms of the arrangement, the NYSE has acquired a minority ownership position in TRE.

Naked Pizza opens doors of first NYC location: Naked Pizza, the New Orleans-based good-for-you pizza chain, is opened the doors of their first New York City location. The company announced the NYC franchise agreement almost a year ago. The New York City region group is headed by Mitchell Krupp and Richard Jacobson and includes several notable professional athletes and well-known New York figures.

Food trucks take NOLA entrepreneurship on the road: For the creators of NOLA Food Trucks, momentum is building quickly and they are excited to see that they are making a difference in the city, both culturally and economically.  The two culinary aficionados see the food aspect of the job as being, appropriately, the icing on the cake.

Water Challenge 2012: Seeking innovative solutions to flood management: The Idea Village is currently seeking regional applicants for the 2012 Water Challenge. The Water Challenge is a collaborative initiative of The Idea Village and the Greater New Orleans Foundation(GNOF) focused on nurturing entrepreneurs with high-growth ventures in the water industry. Going into its second year, a priority in 2012 will be innovative solutions to flood management. The deadline forapplications is September 30th, 2011.

Entrepreneurs give students advice at Louisiana Looking Up 2011: Louisiana Looking Up 2011, an event curated by the LSU Flores MBA Alumni Association and the E.J. Ourso College of Business took place at LSU’s Baton Rouge campus. The event brought together well-known businessmen and women and aspiring entrepreneurs. Seven speakers, including president and CEO of Waste Management, David Steiner, were joined by more than 200 attendees.

Sheaux Fresh completes successful Kickstarter campaign for second gardenSheaux Fresh Sustainable Foods is a family owned business that produces and sells organic fruits, vegetables, and eggs in areas of New Orleans where access to healthy foods is most limited. Started by Thaddaeus and Tamara Prosper, Sheaux Fresh believes that people will buy what is convenient and affordable. The duo recently funded the groundbreaking of a second garden through a Kickstarter campaign.

Louisiana Entrepreneurship Day Featured Redbox Founder Mike DeLazzer at LSU: Louisiana Entrepreneurship Day was held August 25 on LSU’s campus in Baton Rouge and featured Mike DeLazzer, founding member and creative mind behind Red Box. Louisiana Entrepreneurship Day is an on-going series of events, designed to celebrate Louisiana entrepreneurship and inspire the next generation of Louisiana entrepreneurs.
