Codemkrs’ Next Hackathon: “Outside Hacks” Takes Over Outside Lands Festival

After Hackeroo, the first official Bonnarro hackathon, festival lovers wondered what Codemkrs founder Travis Laurendine’s next target would be. In partnership with GracenoteDolbyMashery, Facebook, Google, Aloompa, and PandoDaily, Codemkrs is presenting a 24-hour code marathon at Outside Lands. Over the weekend (August 3-4), “Outside Hacks” challenged developers, designers, idea people to enhance fans and musician’s experiences at the festival through the development of mobile apps. The winner wins entry into the festival this upcoming weekend.

Online Food Marketplace Launches in New Orleans, Connects Consumers to Vendors Through High-Tech Operation

Good Eggs was built two years ago in order to meet the goal of supporting local food systems across the country. The startup is an Etsy meets farmers market–connecting consumers to farmers and food vendors through a virtual marketplace. Good Eggs expanded to New York. Then New Orleans. “It was the next logical step,” said Tess Monaghan who went to college with a few of the founders. “We have a powerful food tradition in New Orleans. People get what it means to choose local whether in business, food, etc. We also have an awesome emerging startup culture.”

eMerge Hires Jason Nicosia as VP of Sales and Marketing

Slidell-based technology company eMerge announced today the hire of local Jason Nicosia as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The company that offers a comprehensive interactive marketing solution is rapidly expanding. Nicosia will be working on international sales and marketing initiatives as the company grows.

Search Influence Offers Complimentary Google+ Local Claiming Workshop

Search Influence, the largest online marketing firm on the Gulf Coast, is hosting a free Google+ Local Claiming Workshop for New Orleans startups and small businesses. The educational workshop is aimed to help local businesses grow online and gain new customers. It will be held on August 12, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at 8120 Oak Street (Search Influence’s office).

It’s New Orleans Seeks Talented Entrepreneurs for Second Year of Out to Lunch Radio Show

Local radio show Out to Lunch (WWNO 89.9FM) is turning 2! Each week host Peter Ricchiuti invites guests from the new world of the New Orleans business renaissance to join him on the show to talk shop and new ventures. As production for the show is ramping up for the year, producers have announced a new experimental segment called Pay It Forward.
